Best Best & Krieger LLP (BBK) is excited to share that Partner and Director of Government Affairs Ana Schwab has been honored by the National Institute for Lobbying & Ethics (NILE). Schwab is among 100 lobbying and advocacy professionals recognized in the “Large Firm” category, for her leadership, accomplishments and contributions to the profession.

Schwab works at the intersection of law, public policy, federal funding and regulation. She helps local governments and special districts advance critical water, wastewater, environmental and infrastructure priorities. Her federal advocacy has helped secure funding for projects that improve drinking water reliability, strengthen flood protection and address aging infrastructure in underserved communities.

Schwab’s federal advocacy has helped secure $1.09 million for the Coachella Valley Water District’s North Cathedral City Regional Stormwater Project and $750,000 for the Borrego Water District’s Aging Infrastructure Waterline Replacement Project. Both were secured through the Fiscal Year 2026 federal appropriations process with support from BBK’s advocacy team. She has also played an integral role in advancing the $466 million Pure Water Project Las Virgenes-Triunfo, a regional water reliability initiative that will transform recycled water into a drought-resilient drinking water supply. Through her strategic guidance, Schwab and the BBK Government Affairs team helped the Las Virgenes-Triunfo Joint Powers Authority navigate federal funding opportunities, engage with policymakers and agencies, and position the project for the grants and low-interest financing needed to move into construction. The project broke ground in April 2026 and is expected to provide up to 30% of the region’s drinking water once operational.
