Rikesha provides a variety of legal services in education law.

She assists school districts with providing appropriate services to students with disabilities under the IDEA, Section 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Rikesha advises clients on student affairs, employment and other matters.

Rikesha Lane, who is of counsel in Best Best & Krieger LLP’s Education Law practice group, represents schools and school districts in mediations and due process hearings before the Office of Administrative Hearings. She advises clients on student affairs and special education matters and provides in-house training for teachers and administrators. She assists school districts in providing appropriate services to students with disabilities under the IDEA, Section 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Rikesha also assists in responses to inquiries from federal and state agencies including the Office of Civil Rights, the California Department of Education and the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing. Rikesha has experience with internal investigations, including discrimination, harassment and Title IX.
 
Prior to joining BB&K, Rikesha worked in the California State University Office of General Counsel, where she advised university clients on matters including freedom of speech, employment and human resources, risk management, investigations, procurement, regulatory reporting requirements, litigation and accommodating students and employees with disabilities. She has also advised clients in employment discrimination, corporate investigations and white collar defense, First Amendment and intellectual property, antitrust, products liability and legal malpractice matters.
 
Rikesha teaches a legal writing course for international law students at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.
 
Rikesha is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Riverside County Bar Association, the California Council of School Attorneys and the UCLA Alumni Association. Rikesha is licensed to practice law in the State of California.
