Daniel Richards is an associate in Best Best & Krieger LLP’s Business practice group, where he represents private and public clients in complex litigation.

Business Disputes and Litigation
Daniel represents business clients in litigation involving business and contract disputes, employment matters and intellectual property and trade secrets, including class actions and representative matters.
Daniel represents title insurers and their insureds, individuals and businesses, lenders and escrow companies in litigation involving real estate, lien priority, boundary disputes and insurance bad faith. Daniel also advises and represents clients in matters involving insurance coverage.

Litigation for Public Agencies
Daniel represents public agencies and municipalities in a variety of litigation matters, including litigation involving inverse condemnation, the California Coastal Act, the Subdivision Map Act, the Endangered Species Act, Proposition 218, water rights, disputes with insurers, governmental torts, and state and federal civil rights statutes.
Daniel has represented a number of California Cities in lawsuits involving the passage or implementation of commercial cannabis ordinances and regulations, as well as several class actions involving municipal water rates. Daniel has a substantial amount of experience representing public entities in proceedings seeking writs of mandamus.

Daniel has represented clients in state court and administrative proceedings, federal courts, in adversary proceedings in bankruptcy court and in appellate proceedings.
Prior to joining BB&K, Daniel was a litigation associate at a Washington firm where he represented clients in state and federal litigation in matters ranging from consumer protection, discrimination and retaliation to the Clean Water Act and complex toxic torts.

While at the University of Washington, School of Law, Daniel was a managing editor of the Washington Law Review, and a member of the Moot Court Honor Board. Daniel also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Robert S. Lasnisk at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.  
Daniel lives in Irvine with his wife, Stephanie, where they enjoy cooking, hiking and spending time with their loving dog, Sullivan. Daniel has a passion for community service. He is an Eagle Scout, and served as a marine educator for a nonprofit organization before law school.
Daniel is admitted to the United States District Court for the Central, Eastern and Southern Districts of California, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington.
