Allison M. De Tal is an attorney in the Business practice group, focusing on tax and employee benefit matters. She began her career at Best Best & Krieger LLP in 2010, and left the firm in 2014 to clerk for two judges at the United States Tax Court. Allison then spent 2 years working for a large international law firm where her practice focused exclusively on resolving federal tax controversies. Allison rejoined BB&K in 2018.
 
Allison helps clients resolve various federal and state tax controversies. She has negotiated multiple installment agreements with the IRS. She also successfully represented clients in cases where the IRS asserted the trust fund recovery penalty. Allison also has experience resolving federal and state employment tax, California sales tax and property tax disputes.
 
Allison advises public and private clients on a variety of employee benefits issues. She has experience with retirement plans, health and other employee benefit plans. Allison also regularly advises CalPERS member agencies on a variety of issues, including compliance with California Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act, commonly known as PEPRA.
 
Allison is licensed to practice law in the State of California and the District of Columbia.
