Alison Bassett represents a broad range of health care providers across all aspects of medical practices and operations, with a focus on transactional work and regulatory compliance.
She represents hospitals, health care districts, community clinics, physicians and physician groups in a variety of matters ranging from service agreements to regulatory, reporting and compliance issues. She provides clients with advice and counsel relating to federal health care law and regulations, including the Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Law, HIPAA’s Privacy Rule and the False Claims Act, as well as state health care law and regulations.

Alison has more than 15 years of corporate, finance and mergers and acquisitions experience, including several years of experience working in-house for a nonprofit organization in Northern California (a major health care system) as well as public and private for-profit organizations in Southern California (film and television production companies). She leverages this extensive transactional experience and her business insight to alleviate risks and assist health care clients in making decisions amid a dramatically evolving regulatory framework.
Prior to joining Best Best & Krieger, Alison was a senior associate at Archer Norris, where her practice centered on transactional work and regulatory compliance for her health care clients. She also has significant experience representing physicians across all aspects of their practices.
Prior to that, she worked for St. Joseph Health in Santa Rosa, Calif., managing contract negotiations for five hospitals in the Northern California Region as well as the Region’s extensive owned and leased real property portfolio.
