Jim Harper provides advice and counsel in real estate purchases and sales, real estate leasing, financings, business formations and structuring, business contracts, mergers and acquisitions, franchising, estate administration, estate planning and business succession. Jim is a partner working from the San Diego and Riverside offices of Best Best & Krieger LLP and a member of the firm’s Business practice group.
 
Prior to returning to BB&K in 2010, Jim was a shareholder at the Redlands firm of McPeters McAlearney Shimoff & Hatt. He previously practiced law with BB&K and Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps, where he represented clients in real estate, land use, general business and employment law matters.
 
Jim assists clients in a variety of real estate, business, estate planning and business succession matters, including the purchase and sale of tenant-occupied office buildings, shopping centers, golf course clubs and resort properties, vacant land, and closely held businesses. In these various matters, he has structured and negotiated the transactions, as well as documented and assisted with due diligence, third-party contracts and consents, environmental matters, governmental entitlements, title insurance and escrow closings. Jim also represents real estate lenders and borrowers in real property secured financing matters, and landlords and tenants in leasing transactions.
 
Jim is a member of Wealth Counsel, a nationwide community of estate planning and business law attorneys dedicated to developing and maintaining the very best estate planning and business law practices and technical expertise of its members. He is also a founding organizer, co-chair and presenter for the Riverside Investor’s Business Daily Meetup Group.
 
Jim is a member of Citrus Valley Velo, a local competitive cycling team. His other interests include complex option spreads trading and education, skiing and spending time with his wife, four children and the California Delta.
