Best Best & Krieger LLP Labor & Employment Partner Joseph Ortiz was appointed to the San Bernardino Superior Court bench by California Gov. Gavin Newsom in an announcement made Friday.
 
In addition to his experience representing private and public agency employers in all manner of labor and employment issues, Joe has broad experience relevant to the bench. He has historically worked as a mediator for the Riverside County Dispute Resolution program, served as judge pro temp and served as a commissioner to the City of Riverside Community Police Review Commission, which provides civilian oversight to the Riverside Police Department. In addition, Joe was appointed to the California Fair Employment and Housing Council by Gov. Jerry Brown in 2017.
 
At BB&K, Joe handles everything from labor negotiations to litigation. He provides required employment-related trainings to clients and has taught employment law as an adjunct professor at the University of California, Riverside extension program. Joe recently completed a term on the California Lawyers Association Labor & Employment Section Executive Committee, is a past president of the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce Board and is a founding member of the Hispanic Bar Association of the Inland Empire Board.
