“Be in the Room” Nancy Park Discusses Women in the Commercial Real Estate Industry

No industry is untouched by the #MeToo movement — including the real estate industry. GlobeSt.com interviewed Best Best & Krieger LLP real estate attorney Nancy Park about how the industry she has been a part of for more than three decades has changed to embrace equality.

“When I started 30 years ago, I was usually the only woman in the room. Now occasionally I’m still the only woman in the room but more often there are a couple of others. I might be in the room where half of the room is women and I’ve even done a deal where it was all women,” Nancy told the publication. “So, a big change has occurred, and along the way attitudes have changed. I’m no longer a rarity or a novelty.”

The managing partner of BB&K’s Sacramento office, Nancy urges women to discover and, if necessary, request, opportunities to “be in the room,” ensuring they are in the right place, with the right people, to advance their careers.
