American Lawyer Discusses BB&K Growth Last Year

Firm Expands to Meet Client Demand

The American Lawyer recently reported on Best Best & Krieger LLP’s remarkable growth last year. In an article published Feb. 22, the legal publication cited both increased revenue and headcount at BB&K in 2018, compared to the previous year.
Managing Partner Eric Garner told the publication that the growth is attributed to a solid economy that allows clients to focus on projects and work necessary to the community and the private sector. “The growth has been organic, building on public agency demand and, to some extent, private business demand. There aren’t too many law firms that do this type of work,” Eric stated. “The primary competition is much smaller boutique firms. We have a greater breadth.”
Eric was referring to issues that public agencies throughout the U.S. are grappling with, including infrastructure, water quality and supply, environmental regulations, pension obligations, Public Records Act compliance and regulating innovation — such as autonomous vehicles, e-scooters and drones.
Eric told the publication that BB&K will continue to focus on expanding practice areas through organic growth and lateral hires at a pace that will meet clients’ needs, but does not compromise the firm’s “distinct culture,” the article noted.
