City Attorney for Malibu Discusses Ordinances to Protect Residents


After Malibu was hit with a devastating wildfire that destroyed hundreds of Malibu homes, some residents encountered price-gouging in the local rental market.  The real estate publication The Real Deal reported on the illegal practice of spiking rents after a disaster. Best Best & Krieger LLP attorney Christi Hogin, who serves as Malibu city attorney, discussed  actions the City took to protect residents — including a City ordinance that extends the anti-price gouging rule — in the article “Woolsey Fire Devastation Sends Malibu Rental Market into Overdrive.”
