WALNUT CREEK, Calif. —  Best Best & Krieger LLP welcomes three former Archer Norris attorneys to its Health Care practice group. Partners Colin Coffey and Noël Caughman and Of Counsel Alison Bassett expand BB&K’s team of strategic Health Care law advisors, bringing a wealth of general and corporate counsel experience for public and private health care entities.

“Colin, Noël and Alison have outstanding reputations in the health care industry for their commitment to providing clients the guidance they need to succeed while remaining compliant with ever-changing laws and regulations,” said BB&K Managing Partner Eric Garner. “We are excited that they chose BB&K to continue their practices.”

“My colleagues and I were looking to join a firm that had both a strong health care law practice, as well as public agency lawyers who could be a resource for our clients,” said Coffey. “We are now a one-stop-shop on everything from labor and employment to reimbursements to Public Records Act request guidance. I’m happy and excited to now be able to provide clients with efficient and seamless referrals to knowledgeable colleagues.”

Coffey brings more than 30 years of experience in providing counsel and a broad range of services to health care clients. His central practice is public health care law and regulation, representing providers generally, and medical centers, health care districts, community clinics, skilled nursing facilities and physician groups. Coffey has served as general and special counsel to large and complex medical centers, and corporate counsel to their public and nonprofit boards of directors.

Caughman’s practice concentrates on both health care and employment law. She represents hospitals and various business entities working predominantly on transactional and regulatory compliance matters. Caughman has specific knowledge in the many facets and unique challenges applicable to hospitals operated by health care districts that influence and dictate daily hospital functions.

Bassett represents a broad range of health care providers across all aspects of medical practices and operations, with a focus on transactional work and regulatory compliance. She represents hospitals, health care districts, community clinics, physicians and physician groups in a variety of matters ranging from service agreements to regulatory, reporting and compliance issues.
The three joined BB&K as their former firm was in the process of closing its doors. Their arrival strengthens BB&K’s Health Care practice group, which serves a wide variety of public and private health care entities and providers — including about a third of the State’s health care districts and several California’s health care systems.
