As California begins the task of regulating groundwater pumping for the first time in more than a century, it is expected that legal challenges will emerge over who can pump how much. There are many considerations that will need to be discussed and negotiated, the Sacramento Bee reports.

“Based on my experience, the more severe the overdraft – the harder the problem – probably the more likely you’ll end up being in the courts,” Best Best & Krieger LLP Partner Jeffrey Dunn told the newspaper.
