Joel Ellinwood Joins Best Best & Krieger Sacramento

Joel Ellinwood has joined Best Best & Krieger LLP’s (BB&K) Sacramento office as of counsel in the firm’s environmental law & natural resources, municipal & redevelopment law, and litigation practice groups.  His practice emphasizes land use, environmental, real estate and election law issues at the administrative planning, permitting and enforcement stages, and in litigation.  Ellinwood was previously a senior associate with Abbott & Kindermann, LLP in Sacramento.

Ellinwood's clients include property owners, private developers, non-profit organizations and local public agencies, giving him a broad perspective on the land use regulatory and development process.  As a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and former California real estate broker, he is experienced in solving complex, multi-faceted land use and environmental problems.  Ellinwood has special interest in sustainable communities, including the development of local, regional and state land use, transportation and environmental regulatory policies.

Ellinwood teaches land use, environmental law and professional ethics seminars for UC Davis Extension, the American Planning Association and the State Bar of California.  He received his law degree from Rutgers-Camden School of Law in 1980 and his Master of City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University in 1979.
