Five BB&K Partners Named to "San Diego Super Lawyers 2008"

BB&K announces that five of its partners have been named to San Diego Super Lawyers 2008. The honored attorneys are Bruce Beach for real estate law, Michael Cowett for government/municipal law, James Gilpin for government/municipal law, Robert Hanna for real estate law, and Arlene Prater for employment and labor law.

Beach specializes in eminent domain and property litigation. He represents public and private clients in eminent domain proceedings, as well as other matters related to real property. He has worked on projects for road rights-of-way, pipelines, light rail transit corridors, reservoir sites, as well as redevelopment and flood control projects.

Cowett practices public agency law, including serving as city attorney, redevelopment agency counsel and special district general counsel.  He serves as general counsel to the North San Diego County Transit Development Board, Padre Dam Municipal Water District, Rancho California Water District, Sweetwater Authority, and Valley Center Municipal Water District.  He also serves as special counsel to many other public agencies.

Gilpin practices in civil litigation with an emphasis on real property litigation including eminent domain, construction and other public works litigation.  He has represents clients in all phases of litigation including writ proceedings, jury and court trials, and appeals.

Hanna’s practice emphasizes real property, title insurance, trust, and general business litigation.  He was named by the San Diego Daily Transcript as one of San Diego County’s top attorneys in 2006. 

Prater provides advice to public and private employers on personnel and labor matters, and represents employers in litigation and administrative proceedings.  She regularly handles discrimination, harassment and wrongful termination litigation in State and Federal Court, as well as a wide range of other litigation involving the rights and obligations of employees and employers.
