Business Planning & Transactions Practice

Michael Andelson is a Partner in the Litigation Practice Group of Best Best & Krieger LLP.  His work involves all facets of real estate and contract litigation, business torts, business dissolutions, shareholder disputes, securities fraud, intellectual property, and public law-related litigation.  Public law-related matters include complex litigation concerning constitutional rights, federal discrimination statutes, and contract disputes over large-scale redevelopment projects.  He has extensive jury and court trial experience, as well as administrative law experience.  In 1996, Mr. Andelson served as lead counsel in a Redevelopment Agency lawsuit that resulted   in a judgment in excess of $17 million in favor of the firm’s client.  Mr. Andelson’s trial experience has included both state and federal courts throughout California.

Mr. Andelson also advises business clients and has been active in medical issues involving physicians and hospitals.  His work and committee experience has included extensive involvement in hospital and medical staff issues.  He has served as chairman of the governing board for John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital located in Indio, and he has been a member of the bioethics committee for Desert Hospital in Palm Springs where he participated in presenting legal issues concerning life-support/withhold decisions to the Hospital’s “Grand Rounds.”  Mr. Andelson also has served as co-chair for the State Bar of California’s Committee to Confer with California Medical Association.

Mr. Andelson’s intellectual property work involves copyright and trademark disputes, as well as Internet law-related issues, such as domain name disputes and infringement claims involving copyright and trademark on the Internet.

Mr. Andelson has authored a chapter on Interrogatories for the California Continuing Education of the Bar series on litigation discovery.  He is a frequent speaker on issues of his practice, particularly intellectual property and Internet matters.

Mr. Andelson is married, has three children and enjoys triathlon training and competitions.
