Anthony Van Ruiten is an associate in the Sacramento office of Best Best & Krieger LLP. His practice areas include natural resources, business transactions and real estate.
Mr. Van Ruiten represents both public agencies and private clients in compliance matters under state and federal environmental laws, including the California Environmental Quality Act and the state and federal Endangered Species Acts. Mr. Van Ruiten practices before both California and federal regulatory agencies. He regularly handles issues involving special districts, water quality, pesticide use, drainage and endangered species. He also counsels clients on diverse businesses matters such as entity formation, financing, leasing, acquisitions, sales, and real estate matters.
Mr. Van Ruiten received his law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. While at McGeorge, Mr. Van Ruiten served as a comment editor for the McGeorge Global and Business Development Journal and was awarded membership in the Traynor Honor Society. Mr. Van Ruiten received a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Santa Clara University and his undergraduate degree in Agriculture from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. Mr. Van Ruiten has developed considerable business expertise serving as a principal of a large diversified farming operation and from his work as a business consultant for small and medium sized companies, involving strategic planning, economic feasibility analysis and general business management.
Mr. Van Ruiten is a graduate of Class XXIII of the California Agricultural Leadership Program and has served on numerous boards and commissions, including the Northern California Water Association, Sutter Mutual Water Company and the Winship-Robbins School Board. Mr. Van Ruiten is a member of the American Bar Association, the California State Bar Association and the Sacramento County Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California.
