Jim Turney is an attorney in the Business Transactions and Finance Practice Group of Best Best & Krieger LLP.  He is also a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group.  Mr. Turney is admitted to the State Bar of California and the Supreme Court of the United States.  His practice is focused on real estate development and business transactions. 

In real estate, Mr. Turney represents developers, buyers, sellers, borrowers, lenders, landlords and tenants.  His practice involves negotiating, structuring and documenting the purchase, sale, lease and development of commercial and residential real property.  He has recently been engaged with complex commercial condominium and residential planned development projects. 

In business, his practice spans a wide range of industries including medical, computer, hospitality and agricultural concerns in all stages of maturity.  Mr. Turney provides general counsel to clients in connection with forming and operating business entities and with negotiating, structuring and documenting a variety of business contracts and agreements.  He has recently been engaged with the acquisition and financing of a professional practice and with a transaction which produces a significant continuing revenue stream for a country club. 

Before joining BB&K, Jim Turney established a law practice in Los Angeles and he practiced with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as an intern.  Earlier, in his business career, he performed financial management and strategic planning functions with Ford Motor Company and Eastman Kodak.  Mr. Turney has also served as a corporate director, a private business consultant and a government consultant when he was a financial economist with Arthur B. Laffer & Associates.  And, he has taught undergraduate and MBA courses in the USC School of Business. 

Jim Turney belongs to the International Trade Committee of the California Chamber of Commerce.  He earned his BSB from the University of Minnesota, MBA at the University of Detroit, PhD with the University of Southern California and JD from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
