Ms. Hickey is an Associate at Best Best & Krieger LLP who specializes in construction litigation, code enforcement, civil rights litigation, unlawful detainers, and business litigation.  Ms. Hickey has significant experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in actions involving construction defect and delay claims, mechanic’s liens, and stop notices.  She also handles code enforcement matters such as nuisance abatement and receiverships, and has participated in several administrative hearings concerning conditional use permit revocations.  Ms. Hickey has represented a wide variety of private and public entities at both the trial and appellate court levels, including the Cities of Ontario, Colton, and Fontana, the Elsinore Valley Cemetery District, California Design Wood Products, Inc. and the Eldorado Property Owner’s Association.

           
Ms. Hickey earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Spanish from U.C. Davis in 1996.  She received her Juris Doctorate from McGeorge School of Law in 2000.  She was awarded honors in Written Advocacy and received the Verne Adrian & Annabel McGeorge Academic Achievement Scholarship.  Ms. Hickey also worked as an extern for Justice Connie M. Callahan at the California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District.

           
Ms. Hickey is fluent in Spanish and is an active member of the local legal community.  She is a member of the Leo A. Deegan Inn of Court and taught civil procedure for the University of California Riverside Extension Paralegal Certificate Program.  Ms. Hickey is also a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of California and the Riverside County Bar Association.
