Parissh Knox is an Associate in the Best Best & Krieger LLP’s Municipal and Redevelopment Law practice group.  Mr. Knox’s practice areas include Municipal & Redevelopment Law, Affordable Housing Law and Ethics Law.

Mr. Knox currently serves as the Assistant City Attorney for the City of Maywood.  Mr. Knox also provides legal assistance to several other cities and public agencies, including Ontario, Fontana, San Jacinto, Corona, Lake Forest, March Joint Powers Authority in the areas of redevelopment law, affordable housing, and complex land use matters.   Mr. Knox offers a wide range of services to clients, including drafting and interpreting of ordinances, drafting and negotiating of service and license agreements, and the creation of first time homebuyer programs.

Prior to joining Best Best & Krieger LLP, Mr. Knox was a judicial intern for the Honorable Robert M. Takasugi, Senior Federal Judge in the Central District of California. Mr. Knox also worked in the Community Economic Development Division of the East Bay Community Law Center in Berkeley, CA.  In 2003, Mr. Knox received the Howrey Externs for Legal Pro Bono Fellowship and worked in the Community Economic Development Division of Public Counsel in Los Angeles, California.

Prior to law school at UCLA, Mr. Knox, as a California Senate Fellow, staffed the Natural Resources subcommittee of the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee.  Mr. Knox has also served as a planning intern for the strategic planning office of the City of Oakland Community Economic Development Agency.  Mr. Knox also served as a Senior Account Executive for a Northwest Democratic Political Relations Firm during and after college.

Mr. Knox has a Masters in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley. After working in the field of affordable housing finance, Mr. Knox attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he received a joint degree in Law and Urban Planning.  Mr. Knox is also a graduate of UCLA’s Program in Public Interest and Policy. Over the years, Mr. Knox has received various community and academic awards, including the 8th Annual Community Voices Award.  Mr. Knox continues to be active in the community, where he presently assists the Inland Empire Latino Lawyers Legal Aid Clinic, where he was named the rookie pro-bono attorney of the year in 2007.  Mr. Knox also sits on the Board of Directors for California Youth Connection, a statewide nonprofit organization that advocates on behalf of current and emancipated foster youth.

Adopted from an Okinawan orphanage, Mr. Knox grew up in a military family and has actively volunteered in both the African American, Asian Pacific American, and Latino communities on a variety of issues including emancipating foster youth, affordable housing, brownfields, transitional housing, consumer fraud and homelessness.
