Bill Floyd is the Senior Partner in Best Best & Krieger LLP’s Labor Relations and Employment Law Practice Group.  He is a graduate of California State University, San Diego and McGeorge College of Law at the University of the Pacific.

His practice includes representation of employers in both state and federal courts, and before state and federal administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor and Cal-OSHA.

He advises and represents employers in matters involving employment contracts, employee termination and other discipline; employment discrimination claims; sexual harassment; wage-hour; employee safety matters; union representation
proceedings and unfair labor practice charges; labor negotiations; and grievance and other employment related arbitration and mediation.  He assists clients in developing and administering employment policies designed to avoid liability in the workplace.  These policies cover the gamut of employment law and include such subjects as family/medical leave; drug and alcohol testing under state and federal law (including the Department of Transportation testing requirements); Americans with Disabilities Act matters; workplace violence; reductions in force; at-will termination and disciplinary measures; and employee privacy issues.

Bill serves as an arbitrator on the American Arbitration Association’s panel of labor and employment law neutrals.  He also serves as an investigator for employers in sexual harassment and other matters.

He is a frequent lecturer and conducts seminars and other training programs on labor and employment law topics, including employee discipline and discharge, sexual harassment, employment discrimination, the Americans with Disabilities Act, family/medical leave and employee privacy.  He has authored articles in a wide variety of business and human resources publications.

Bill is former chair of Best Best & Krieger LLP’s Labor Relations and Employment Law Group and has served on numerous firm committees.  He has volunteered time to a number of community and professional groups over the years.
