Klatchko Talks about Her Most Challenging Case and Other Appellate Issues

group at Best Best & Krieger. She is a senior associate in the firm's Indian Wells, Calif., office.
She is an appellate practitioner handling both state and federal appeals arising from all areas of civil practice, ranging from general civil procedure and municipal law to marital dissolution andprobate. Klatchko is a member of her state and local bar associations, and has served three terms as chair of the Riverside County Bar Association Appellate Section.
: What is the most challenging case you've worked on, and why?
: Surprisingly, my toughest case was not one in which I was an advocate, but in which I was appointed by the Court of Appeal as a mediator. I often mediate cases on appeal and really love the process, but mediating a case after one side is declared a winner and the other a loser presents unique challenges.
The case in question was a fight between two sisters who had not spoken in several years.
