San Bernardino, Calif. _ Rahsaan J. Tilford, a transportation and land use attorney at Best Best & Krieger LLP, was recently appointed to the board of a non-profit that helps San Bernardino County’s low-income population.
Tilford will serve a three-year term on the Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County as a private sector representative. One of the county’s largest non-profits, the Community Action Partnership is charged with developing and implementing programs such as transitional housing, homeless prevention, tax preparation, home weatherization and food distribution.
Tilford, based in BB&K’s Ontario office, grew up in Rialto in a single-parent home.
“I have a personal interest in giving back to the community because this county is where I grew up and now work,” said Tilford, 36.
Tilford was appointed to his position by the board members. The 15-member board is made up of members from the public sector, the private sector and the low-income community. Tilford replaces Michael Gallo, president and chief executive officer of San Bernardino-based Kelly Space & Technology, Inc.
Tilford has worked at BB&K for six years, representing public agencies across the Inland region in matters involving land use, ethics compliance, transportation and affordable housing. He provides legal assistance to the Riverside County Transportation Commission and Omnitrans, which offers bus service in the San Bernardino Valley area.
Currently, Tilford is assisting Omnitrans on developing a 15.7-mile rapid transit bus project linking San Bernardino and Loma Linda in western San Bernardino County. The $191 million project will use 60-foot natural gas vehicles, operate within dedicated center bus lanes, and include 16 art-inspired stations at key university, government, business, entertainment and medical centers, as well as four park-and-ride facilities.
Tilford received his law degree in 2003 from Tulane University in New Orleans.
