Irene S. Zurko is an associate in the Municipal Law practice group of Best Best & Krieger LLP. Prior to joining the firm in 2010, she was an attorney with McDonough Holland & Allen in Sacramento.
Ms. Zurko’s practice includes advisory, litigation and transactional services to cities, counties, redevelopment agencies and other public entities. She co-authored “Supreme Court Holds No Conflict of Interest for Pension Board Members to Vote on Benefits If Their Benefits Are Substantially the Same as Others in Class” (McDonough Public Law Bulletin, February 2010).
Ms. Zurko received her law degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 2008. While in law school, she served on the Moot Court Board and was a member of the National Moot Court Team which received the National Best Brief Award and was the winning team in the regional rounds. Ms. Zurko received the Witkin Award in Legal Writing and was a teaching assistant for the Legal Writing Program. She was a judicial extern for the Superior Court of California, County of Yolo, and to the Honorable Garland E. Burrell, Jr., United States District Court, Eastern District of California.
Ms. Zurko earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Spanish from the University of California, Davis, with Honors, in 2004. She is fluent in Spanish.
