We currently visit nine California law schools: Davis, Hastings, McGeorge, Loyola, Pepperdine, UC Irvine, UCLA, USC, and USD, as well as two out-of-state law schools, BYU and Utah. The firm also participates in three off-campus recruitment programs. Applications from students attending other law schools are also considered each Fall.
Callback applicants are invited to interview at our weekend interviewing session, which includes an evening dinner with members of the recruitment committee, followed by a full day of interviewing at the firm. Our unique interviewing process gives both the students and the members of the firm an ample amount of time to evaluate one another to make sure the fit is a good one for both.
Our summer program is designed to give law students both a representative sampling of our firm's diverse practice and the opportunity to get to know the attorneys in our firm. We consider legal research and writing to be an important part of our summer program, but we also emphasize the inclusion of summer associates in such activities as client meetings, courtroom practice, public agency hearings and city council meetings. Another aim of our summer program is to acquaint summer associates with the cultural and recreational activities available in the general area. The firm hosts a variety of both formal and informal social events throughout the summer that provide participants with the opportunity to get to know our lawyers and their families.
BB&K has been successful in utilizing its summer program as our primary source for new associates. Each summer associate is paired with a mentor who meets regularly with the summer associate regarding his or her progress and provides constructive feedback on individual assignments. Work assignments are coordinated to ensure that work is evenly distributed and that summer associates work with as many attorneys as possible on a variety of matters.
Best Best & Krieger LLP is committed to recruiting, hiring, developing, promoting and retaining attorneys and staff of diverse backgrounds. With those goals in mind, BB&K is pleased to offer its First Year Law Student Diversity Fellowship/Scholarship Program. This program will provide the recipient with a paid 2012 summer associate position in one of its participating offices: Ontario, Riverside, Sacramento or San Diego. To qualify for the $7,500 academic scholarship, the recipient student selected must be invited and must return to BB&K for its second year summer program in 2013. The $7,500 scholarship will be paid following completion of the student's second summer with BB&K. Click here to learn more about the program and to apply.
In September of 2010, The American Lawyer magazine ranked BB&K seventh out of 137 law firms nationwide in job satisfaction based on a survey of mid-level associates. We attribute the high ranking to the firm's ability to offer associates the opportunity to work on meaningful and complex issues early on in their careers, in addition to working with some of the foremost experts in public and private areas of the law.
We look forward to the opportunity to meet with highly-qualified students who are interested in discussing employment prospects. If you are unable to meet with our campus representative during the Fall on-campus interview season, please forward your resume to:
