In September of 2010, The American Lawyer magazine ranked BB&K seventh out of 137 law firms nationwide in job satisfaction based on a survey of mid-level associates. We attribute the high ranking to the firm's ability to offer associates the opportunity to work on meaningful and complex issues early on in their careers, in addition to working with some of the foremost experts in public and private areas of the law.
This year we are scheduled to interview on-campus at nine law schools and three off-campus recruitment programs. We are interested in graduates who have demonstrated academic abilities, who have been educated at major law schools and who show both motivation and a commitment to excellence. Associates are invited to join the firm because they appear to possess those qualities which will result in their admission to partnership. Although new associates are assigned to a specific practice group upon arrival at the firm, they will also be able to work on matters in a number of different fields during the first few years and will have the opportunity to handle their own clients and matters. We are at a stage where new associates will have an excellent opportunity to contribute to and influence the firm's future. Associates are now considered for partnership after eight years.
Each associate is assigned a mentor to give new associates insight into the workings of the firm, its clients and its personnel. The mentor program is designed to provide associates with a helping hand as they experience life in the private law firm environment.
All lawyers are encouraged to play a role in shaping firm policy. The firm's associates meet as often as they wish, and many of the members of our recruitment committee are associates.
Social obligations are kept to a minimum, but we do sponsor activities for lawyers, staff, spouses and friends to help foster a friendly and open working environment. We recognize the benefits of a well-rounded life and believe that attorneys perform better when fulfilling family and community commitments, as well as professional goals.
All applicants must possess superior writing and interpersonal skills. Candidates with excellent academic credentials who meet the necessary experience requirements for the position are invited to email, fax, mail their resume with transcripts to:
