Washington, D.C. – Following extensive negotiations surrounding the FY24 federal government appropriations, Best Best & Krieger LLP is proud to announce that the firm’s Government Affairs team assisted in securing $102,178,552 in grants and related funding for clients. The Government Affairs group also helped secure federal crediting of another $550 million of in-kind contributions to fund seismic retrofits at a critical water supply reservoir dam.

Highlights of the $102 million in Community Project Funding/Congressionally Directed Spending and Congressional allocations included in the recently passed Fiscal Year 2024 Minibus appropriations package include: 

  • $2,000,000 for the updates to the flood control manual at the Lake Oroville Reservoir that will allow for the capture and storage of atmospheric rivers
  • $3,608,800 for Borrego Water District Water Infrastructure Replacement Project 
  • $2,500,000 for the Los Angeles Country Sanitation Districts’ Bio-methane Interconnection Project
  • $1,959,752 for Santa Margarita Water District Brine Line Construction and North Open Space Well PFAS Treatment Facility

The legislation was approved by Congress and signed into law by President Biden on March 8, 2024 which was the government funding deadline for four of the appropriation bills.
